Streamlined and modern
Shannon Leigh was invited to partner with the architects of the East County Hall of Justice project in Dublin, CA. This project presented challenges for design and collaboration. The 150,000 square foot facility was the first courthouse built in Alameda County in decades and wayfinding was needed for visitors, law enforcement, attorneys, court employees, and suspects being transported for arraignment. Environmental graphic designs and selected materials had to be tamper proof, durable, and safe.
The simple, classic signage designs coordinated with the modern glass and metal structure and streamlined interior design. As a public project, the design needed to be economical, long lasting and secure, while bringing some elegance to the surroundings.
